Castlerigg Stone Circle

Castlerigg Stone Circle

The stones were erected around 3200BC, in the Late Neolithic. The scene is a favourite among photographers: I returned several times to this scene on beautiful evenings, but it was only in the pouring rain that the place was deserted enough for my taste. Sometimes monochrome is the only way to express the emotion a place evokes.
