Glastonbury Abbey
Originally founded in the 8th Century, by the 14th Century Glastonbury was one of the richest abbeys in England. It was suppressed by Henry VIII in the Dissolution of the Monasteries.The last abbot, Richard Whiting, was hanged, drawn and quartered on Glastonbury Tor in 1539 for remaining loyal to Rome.
