Post Lane tumbles westwards down from the crest of the hill. It embodies the feel of the Blackdown Hills for me, and I've tried to capture it many times, particularly at twilight in late winter and early spring when the sun sets behind the Iron Age hill fort of Dumpdon Hill in the distance. The light was very unusual on this evening in March. Within minutes of taking this photograph, a thick fog had risen all around me, leaving only the white all around and the misty pink glow almost the only clue as to which direction I was looking in.
